Steven Wilson will be launching his first solo tour with a full band of North America in over seven years later this year after a European tour this spring.
The “Overview Tour” is in support of his upcoming release “The Overview” which is set for a March 14 release. The album will be available as a digital download, CD, vinyl, Blu-ray, a CD boxset, red vinyl boxset, and a mint colour vinyl.
While called an album, the release will include only two tracks “Objects Outlive Us” and “The Overview” that feature selections in a continuous flow.
Wilson spoke on his upcoming album saying, “’The Overview’ is a 42-minute long journey based on the reported ‘overview effect,’ whereby astronauts seeing the Earth from space undergo a transformative cognitive shift, most often experiencing an overwhelming appreciation and perception of beauty, and an increased sense of connection to other people and the Earth as a whole. However, not all experiences are positive; some see the Earth truly for what it is, insignificant and lost in the vastness of space, and the human race as a troubled species. As a reflection of that, the album presents images and stories of life on Earth, both good and bad.”
Many of the dates on the European portion of the tour have already sold out.
