This weekend NASCAR makes a return to the quarter-mile track at Bowman Gray Stadium; its first since 1971 with The Cook Out Clash. While it is clear that none of the drivers who ran a Cup Series car 50 plus years ago, there are a handful of drivers who will hit the track this weekend who have had some previous experience on the tiny track.
William Byron had a single start at Bowman Gray as a part of the ARCA East series in 2015 where he finished in 15th place.
Alex Bowman has also had a single start at Bowman Gray in the ARCA East series where he finished in 12th place in 2011.
In 2013, Cole Custer made a start in the ARCA East series where he broke the top 10 in tenth place.
Finding it hard to belief that there isn’t a track where Kyle Larson hasn’t run, he has made a single start at Bowman Gray in the ARCA East series in 2012 where he finished in fifth place.
Justin Haley has a single start at Bowman Gray in 2015 in the ARCA East series where he posted a third place finish.
Chase Elliott has made tow ARCA East series starts at Bowman Gray. His best finish was a sixth place in 2012.
Bubba Wallace has two ARCA East starts at Bowman Gray. His best finish was a second place position in 2012.
After moving from Mexico, Daniel Suarez has three strarts in the ARCA East series at Bowman Gray where he posted a second place finish in 2014.
Corey LaJoie has made three ARCA East series starts at Bowman Gray where he took the checkered flag in 2012.
The only driver not to make an ARCA East start is Ryan Preece who made three starts on the Modified Tour. In 2013 he took the checkered flag for the win.
