After two booming weeks of Broadway receipts at the box office, there was a considerable drop this past week; but with the holidays over and just 30 shows currently running, the drop was not unexpected.
In its final week, the Tony Award winning play “Stereophonic” had one of its highest grossing weeks of the run before heading for the West End in London and a national U.S. tour.
With fewer shows and a drop in ticket prices, box office receipts dropped from a booming $45 million to $32 million. But business should be picking up soon with Broadway Week on the horizon.
Not surprising, “Wicked” continues to be a big success; topping the list with a draw of over $2 million last week.
There were 16 shows in the Million Dollar Club last week:
“Wicked”
“Hamilton”
“The Lion King”
“Gypsy”

Attendance was also down last week but there was still a total of 91 percent audience capacity with seven shows selling out the week.
There were 22 of the 30 shows in the 90 percent club last week.
