On January 5, the Golden Globe Awards kick off the Hollywood awards season.  Along with the awards for film and television acting, veteran actor Ted Danson will be presented with the Carol Burnett Award.

Since making his acting debut in 1970, Danson has appeared in over 100 film and television productions including “Cheers”, the “CSI” franchise, “Three Men and a Baby” and “Three Men and a Little Lady”, “Saving Private Ryan”, “Becker”, “Ted”, “The Good Place”, and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.

He is currently appearing in “A Man on the Inside” which airs on Netflix.

Created in 2019 with the awards namesake receiving the inaugural trophy is presented to the actor who has “made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen.”

Danson will join previous recipients Carol Burnett, Norman Lear, Ryan Murphy, and Ellen DeGeneres.

Speaking on Danson, Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne said via a statement, “Ted Danson has entertained audiences for decades with his iconic performances that will forever be ingrained in television history.  His renowned career is a testament to his remarkable talent and versatility as an actor and bears resemblance to the award’s legendary namesake.”

An environmental activist, Danson is the co-founder of the American Oceans Campaign.
