What are your feelings about eating meat?

I admit that I am a meat eater; but like everything else, I else in my life, a picky meat eater.

I don’t eat pork and while I like beef, there are limits there too…no liver, tripe, kidneys, and the like.

The one meat that I really like is hard to get – I love venison! Elk is good too. So is reindeer!

Yeah, I eat beef but I eat more chicken and turkey…and fish. But, I am not a meat and potatoes every meal kind of person.

However, when I eat meat, it MUST be cooked; none of this raw stuff! I tell people, I don’t want my cow mooing while I am trying to eat it.

I remember when we were in Russia, the mid-day meal was a part of the package and it was some form of beef – we didn’t know what part nor did we really want to know – and potatoes in some form. One day we got fish and I enjoyed it greatly while some of the others who had complained about all the meat also complained about the fish. the really funny part about all of that was when we went to Moscow, a bunch of the group headed straight for McDonald’s for hamburgers and fries – meat and potatoes!

I have to admit, I made a trip a few times myself because they had really good hamburgers. Part of the deal for McDonald’s to operate in foreign countries is that they have to use local products. In Russia, they don’t use all the chemicals they do in America and the food tasted different – often better.

When it comes to buying a hamburger at a fast food place or restaurant, I am very picky. Of the fast food joints, Wendy’s is good, no one else is good to me. The Hard Rock Cafe makes a really good burger. And there is a local place that serves Halal food and they make a good burger too.

I’m not a big fan of fried food either.

Eating meat is not a bad thing for me, but I respect those who choose otherwise.
