I was born on the beach…well, actually it was in a hospital, but we lived on the beach for a bit (not sure how long, by time brother came along two years later, we had moved).
I hated getting dirty, but I loved going to the beach with the waves lapping at my legs. We were never allowed to go very far, but it didn’t matter, we had fun anyway.
Mountains are beautiful to look at and photograph, but they are too far from the sea. But the beach is just the beginning with the sea on the horizon. Three quarters of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. So, it is no wonder that people love going to the beach – some go just for the sun; while others go for the love of being on the edge of the water.
The sea is in my blood and the beach is only the beginning…a place to dream of what lies beyond.
British born musician Zoe Lewis now makes her home in the United States. She often speaks of standing on the beach in Rhode Island and looking across the ocean to her British home in Brighton.
Standing on the shore and looking across the seas, can spark the imagination and spawn many a dream.
