After NASCAR levied some hefty penalties to Richard Childress Racing, Trackhouse Racing, and 23XI Racing the three teams announced that they would appeal the ruling.
On Wednesday, 23XI Racing announced that it would not be appealing the penalties to the 23 teams – a $100,000 fine and the loss of 50 points to driver Bubba Wallace and a two race suspension for crew chief Bootie Barker and spotter Freddie Kraft.
Bubba Wallace was in 18th place in the Cup Series Point Standings prior to the penalty. The 50 point deduction drops Wallace just two spots in the standings to 20th. If the penalty against Ross Chastain holds up, Wallace will gain a spot since Chastain is behind Wallace in the standings.
NASCAR has charged the teams with violating the NASCAR Rule Book’s Member Conduct Code.
However, Richard Childress Racing and Trackhouse Racing will have their appeals heard by the National Motorsport Appeals Panel. Practice for the final race of the season takes place on Friday afternoon at Phoenix Raceway.
In a post on social media, 23XI said that they would be concentrating their efforts of Wallace’s teammate Tyler Reddick who is one of the four drivers competing for the championship at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday.
