The 38 drivers in the Xfinity Series race take to the track on Friday afternoon for a little practice and qualifying at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Credit One NASCAR Amex Credit Card 300.

Last week AJ Allmendinger earned his spot in the championship four with a win at Las Vegas for his first win of the season.

The drivers have been divided into two groups for practice and qualifying with the playoff drivers in Group B.  The drivers get 15 minutes to practice before they qualify for the race.  With 38 starting spots, all of the drivers will drive in the race.

After making the announcement that he would be driving full time in the Xfinity Series next season, 18 year old William Sawalich is making his Xfinity Series debut in Homestead-Miami.

Thomas Annunziata gets off the track and into the grass.  The 19 year old driver is making his debut at homestead-Miami.

Matt DiBenedetto will not make a qualifying run after issues passing inspection.

Justin Allgaier has signed a multi-year contract with JR Motorsports.  He said that he doesn’t know how much longer he will race, but he intends to race as long as he is having fun.

Cole Custer and Sam Mayer are the only drivers in the field who have won a race at Homestead-Miami.

Dawson Cram is the first driver on the track to make a qualifying run and posts a time of 334.289 seconds.

The seventh driver out, Connor Zilisch breaks the 34 second mark with a time of 33.495 seconds in his Homestead-Miami debut.

With a time of 33.067 seconds, Chandler Smith puts his number 81 car on the pole with Sheldon Creed starting alongside on the front row.  This is Smith’s third pole of the season.

Matt DiBenedetto’s car had issues getting through inspection on Friday; as a result, he was not allowed to qualify the car and will have to serve a pass through penalty once the green flag drops.

Anthony Alfredo, Jeremy Clements, and Shane van Gisbergen will all have to start the race from the back of the field after the crews made some unapproved adjustments to the cars.

Stages one and two are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 110 laps for 200 laps and 300 miles around the mile and a half track.

The drivers have just four sets of tires for the entire race.

Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with Sheldon Creed alongside on the front row.  Drivers spread out three wide in the field.  Sheldon Creed and Chandler Smith battle for the lead with Smith taking the spot.

Lap two, the top five are Chandler Smith, Sheldon Creed, Aric Almirola, Cole Custer, and AJ Allmendinger.

Lap five, Aric Almirola makes it three wide to pass for second.

Lap six, Chandler Smith has a near one second lead on Aric Almriola; Cole Custer, AJ Allmendinger, and Sheldon Creed round out the top five.

Lap nine, Chandler Smith has pulled out to a second and a half lead on Cole Custer; Aric Almirola; AJ Allmendinger, and Riley Herbst round out the top five.

Lap 17, Chandler Smith holds a lead of nearly a second and a half on Cole Custer; AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Lap 20, Chandler Smith’s lead is down to just a second on Cole Custer.

Lap 22, Austin Hill has been moving through the field and is just outside the top five.

In only 22 laps the lap times have fallen three seconds due to tire wear.

Lap 26, Chandler Smith’s lead is now just half a second over Cole Custer; AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

There are 36 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 28, Cole Custer is just a quarter of a second behind leader Chandler Smith.

Lap 29, Cole Custer begins the challenge Chandler Smith for the lead.

Lap 31, Cole Custer battles with Chandler Smith for the lead with Custer passing on the outside lane.

Lap 35, after starting from the back of the field, Shane van Gisbergen has been slowly working his way through the field and is now in 23rd.

Lap 37, Cole Custer has a lead of nearly a second on AJ Allmendinger; Aric Almirola, Chandler Smith, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Seven laps remain in stage one, Cole Custer has a half second lead on Aric Almirola; AJ Allmendinger, Sam Mayer, and Chandler Smith round out the top five.

Sammy Smith scrapes the wall but the track stays green.  With a flat tire, Sammy Smith makes an unscheduled trip down pit road.

With four laps remaining in stage one, Aric Almirola, Cole Custer, and Austin Hill battle for the lead.  Almirola gets out front with Austin Hill in second and Cole Custer in third.

Three to go, Austin Hill passes Aric Almirola for the lead.

There are 32 cars on the lead lap.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Austin Hill winning the race off of pit road.

Parker Retzlaff was caught speeding coming off of pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Sammy Smith didn’t have a flat tire but the tire was heavily corded.  Cole Custer also had a heavily corded tire.

Austin Hill brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 53.  The drivers spread out four wide across the track.  Austin Hill holds on to the lead with Aric Almirola in second.

One lap down after his unscheduled pit stop, Sammy Smith is back on the lead lap after the “lucky dog”.

Lap 58, Austin Hill has barely a tenth of a second lead on Aric Almirola; Cole Custer, AJ Allmendinger, and Ryan Sieg round out the top five.

Lap 60 Cole Custer pass Aric Almirola for second; Cole Custer has a near half second lead on Custer.

Matt DiBenedetto is off the track with 31 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 67, Riley Herbst makes an unscheduled trip down pit road after hitting the wall with a flat tire.

Austin Hill holds on to the lead with Cole Custer a half second behind; AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, and Ryan Sieg rounding out the top five.

Lap 71, Justin Allgaier hits the wall but the track stays green and Allgaier keeps going.

Lap 74, Austin Hill has a near one second lead on Cole Custer; AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, and Ryan Sieg round out the top five.

Lap 82, Sammy Smith reports another tire issue.

Matt DiBenedetto is out of the race.  There are 29 cars on the lead lap.

Leland Honeyman has a smoking car and has to make an unscheduled trip down pit road.

The caution flag comes out with four laps remaining in stage two when Nick Leitz spins out smoking but fails to hit anything.  The right front tire is flat has is causing major damage to the car.

Austin Hill sweeps the stages with a stage two win.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Austin Hill winning the race off of pit road.

On pit road Jeb Burton had issues getting into his pit box, Dylan Lupton was charged with pitting outside of his pit box, and Kyle Weatherman was caught speeding on pit road.

Austin Hill brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three from the inside lane on lap 96 with Cole Custer alongside.  Hill holds on to the lead.  Drivers are getting four wide through the field.

Lap 109, Austin Hill battles with Cole Custer for the lead; Custer holds on to the lead…for now.

Lap 114, Austin Hill finally gets around Cole Custer for the lead.

Lap 117, Austin Hill has a lead of over a second and a half on Cole Custer; Aric Almirola, AJ Allmendinger, and Jesse Love round out the top five with 27 cars on the lead lap.  Nick Leitz is out of the race.

 Justin Allgaier has gotten into the wall again; but the track stays green.

Ryan Truex brings out the caution flag on lap 123 when he makes contact with Josh Williams who has sparks coming from his car with a flat tire.

Drivers come down pit road for service with 76 laps remaining in the race.  Austin Hill wins the race off of pit road with Jesse Love coming off second.

Austin Hill has been perfect today getting on and off of pit road and never losing a spot.

Austin Hill brings the field down for the green flag restart with teammate Jesse Love alongside on lap 128.  Hill gets out in front to hold on to the lead.

Third place driver Cole Custer goes from third to first to take the lead.

It is nearly six o’clock on the east coast and the sun has begun to set.  The race will end under the lights.

Lap 136, Cole Custer has a lead of over a second on Jesse Love; Ryan Sieg, Austin Hill, and Aric Almirola round out the top five.

Lap 138, Cole Custer has increased his lead to nearly two seconds on Jesse Love.

Lap 139, Dylan Lupton makes a green flag pit stop.

William Sawalich gets loose trying to pass Brandon Jones and gets into the wall with a flat tire.  The track stays green.

Lap 148, Justin Allgaier passes his teammate Sam Mayer for eighth.

Cole Custer has a three second lead on Jesse Love; Austin Hill, Aric Almirola, and Ryan Sieg round out the top five.

Coolers behind the pit wall began leaking and ran onto pit road.  The crews are desperately trying to get it cleaned up before their drivers have to come in the pits.

Just 47 laps remaining in the race, Cole Custer has a lead of over three seconds on Jesse Love; Austin Hill, Aric Almirola, and Sheldon Creed round out the top five.

Lap 159, more drivers are making their green flag pit stops including leader Cole Custer.

Sheldon Creed is the new leader.

Chandler Smith has a slow stop with a jack issue.

With 38 laps to go, the top five are Sheldon Creed, AJ Allmendinger, Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, and Parker Kligerman.

Once all of the drivers make their green flag pit stops, Cole Custer will retake the lead and have a lead of some three seconds over Austin Hill.  The top six drivers have yet to make their pit stops.

Sam Mayer gets into the wall but he track stays green.  He slides over the line of his pit box and has to backup before service can begin.

Sheldon Creed makes his green flag pit stop and gives the lead over to Parker Kligerman.

Sam Mayer passes Cole Custer to get one of his laps back.

There are only 12 cars on the lead lap with 26 laps remaining in the race.

AJ Allmendinger leads the race but has yet to make his green flag pit stop.  Sam Mayer passes Allmendinger and is now back on the lead lap to put 15 cars on the lead lap.

Twenty-one to go, AJ Allmendinger comes down pit road for service.  Cole Custer is the new leader.

Twenty to go, the otp five are Cole Custer, Austin Hill, Aric Almirola, Jesse Love, and Brandon Jones with 19 cars on the lead lap.

Just 17 laps remaining in the race with Cole Custer over a second out in front of Austin Hill.

Fifteen to go, Cole Custer’s lead is down to under half a second on Austin Hill.

Twelve to go, Austin Hill has caught leader Cole Custer; Aric Almirola, Jesse Love, and Riley Herbst round out the top five.

Austin Hill wins the race and secures his spot in the championship four!  Hill entered the race eight points below the cut line and in danger of being eliminated from the playoffs next week.
