It is not uncommon for musicians to have numerous instruments. Over the years, they buy new pieces or in the case of drummers and percussionists, more pieces. After a time, their homes resemble music stores. And they often turn to auction houses to sell off the excess pieces.
Such was the case for Alex van Halen; NOT walking away from music as the rumours have suggested.
Van Halen himself spoke on the issue while promoting his new book “Brothers”, saying that his decision to do a little cleaning out was “misinterpreted”.
He added, “I’m not quitting. I don’t know where that came from. I’ll die with sticks in my hand.”
Van Halen has some spinal issues due to the years of playing and noted that, “with modern technology we have now I should be OK in about five years.”
