During the All Star Race at North Wilkesboro in May, there was an on track incident involving Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Kyle Busch that resulted in an early end to Stenhouse’s night.
Most tracks have a “tunnel” under a portion of the racing track to allow vehicles to leave the property; however, North Wilkesboro is one that does not have a tunnel which meant Stenhouse was stuck at the track until after the races. Already angry, having to wait around for another 198 laps allowed Stenhouse’s anger to fester.
Stenhouse waited for Busch outside the number eight’s hauler to have a “chat”; but after only a few words, Stenhouse threw a punch a Busch. Both crews became involved including Stenhouse’s father Rick Sr.
NASCAR fined Stenhouse $75,000 and a number of suspensions were handed down including Stenhouse Sr.
This past week on September 24, NASCAR lifted Stenhouse Sr’s suspension and he is now permitted to return to NASCAR events.
There are just seven more weeks remaining in the 2024 NASCAR season.
