Award winning actor Robert Downey Jr joined the rank of actors on Broadway this past week when “McNeal” came in just short of joining the Million Dollar Club after only five performances.
Stars Audra McDonald, Denzel Washington, and Jake Gyllenhaal will also be joining the list of actors gracing the stages of Broadway in the coming months.
“Cabaret” saw a big increase at the box office last week to make the top five when Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin had their final week of performances. Monday Adam Lambert and Auli’I Cravalho took over the starring roles in the show.
“Wicked”, “The Lion King”, “Hamilton”, and “Hell’s Kitchen” held on to complete the top five.
The final full week of summer saw an increase of seven percent in box office sales despite being the final days of Broadway Week on Broadway with eleven of the current 28 productions a part of the Million Dollar Club. Broadway Week offered free tickets to children when accompanied by an adult.
