As school went into full swing last week and the summer holidays have passed, only 10 of the 26 shows currently running on Broadway made it into the Million Dollar Club last week. Among them was “Oh, Mary!”, who broke the box office records at the Lyceum Theatre for the fourth week in a row. Currently the show is scheduled to run until November 10 after a recent extension but if the current pattern continues, the show could last a bit longer.
With an overall 10 percent drop in box office receipts, there were no two million dollar draws last week but “Wicked” did top the list of the Million Dollar Club with only 10 shows making the list this week.
But things will begin to get better as the fall season begins. “The Roommate” and “McNeal” are currently in previews and “Cabaret” is bringing in new lead characters next week when Adam Lambert and Auli’l Cravalho join the cast.
