With no practice, the 37 drivers in the Xfinity Series hit the track of Atlanta Motor Speedway to qualify for the Focused Health 250.
There are just three more races – counting Atlanta – remaining in the regular season for the Xfinity Series. Eight drivers have locked in spots for the 12 driver playoffs. At least one playoff driver will make it in on points.
The drivers are running with limited horsepower this week at 400 for this race but qualifying speeds are still running over 170mph and will be running even faster during the race. They are running the same package as the Indianapolis race.
Dawson Cram was the first of the 37 car field to make a qualifying run and posted a time of 33.097 seconds.
After all of 37 drivers have made a qualifying run, the top 10 drivers will move on to a second round of qualifying to set the pole.
Kyle Weatherman was unable to complete his qualifying lap, reporting a possible tire issue. With 37 cars for 38 starting spots, Weatherman will be in the field. He had a flat tire as the result of the jack post broke and went through the tire. Considered a mechanical issue, the crew will be allowed to make the proper repairs.
Jesse Love, Taylor Gray, AJ Allmendinger, Riley Herbst, Ryan Truex, Justin Allgaier, Austin Sill, Sheldon Creed, Chandler Smith, and Cole Custer will all move on to round two of qualifying.
The first driver on the track in round two of qualifying is Chandler Smith who posted a time of 32.086 seconds.
Cole Custer broke the 32 second mark in his round two qualifying run with a time of 31.966 seconds.
With a time of 31.927 seconds, Jesse Love puts his number two car on the pole with Taylor Gray starting alongside on the front row. Love also sat on the pole for the Atlanta race back in February.

Stages one and two of the race are 40 laps each with stage three lasting 83 laps for a total of 163 laps around the mile and a half track. The drivers can run 75 to 80 laps on a single load of fuel.
On a hot Atlanta Saturday afternoon, Jesse Love brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside lane with Taylor Gray alongside. Getting a push from his teammate Austin Hill, Jesse Love gets out in front for the lead.
Lap two, Jesse Love leads the race with Austin Hill right behind him; Chandler Smith, Justin Allgaier, and Taylor Gray round out the top five.
After starting the race in 10th place, Justin Allgaier in his “May Missile” (his major sponsor is Hellman’s mayonnaise) are already in the top five.
Lap five, Justin Allgaier passes Chandler Smith for third.
Lap eight, Jesse Love has the lead with Austin Hill in second; Justin Allgaier, Chandler Smith, and Taylor Gray round out the top five.
Lap 10, the field has split up into groups.
Ryan Sieg is slowed on the track; he reports an electrical issue in the car. Sieg is on the apron but has no power and brings out the caution flag.
Before the caution flag came out, Anthony Alfredo gets into the wall and has to come down pit road with a flat tire.
Some of the drivers come down pit road for service and adjustments. Drivers who pit now can make it to the end of stage two if they wish.
Jesse Love brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 17 with Sheldon Creed alongside. Getting a push from Austin Hill, Jesse Love gets back out in front.
The top five are Jesse Love, Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, Sheldon Creed, and Cole Custer.
Lap 18, Dawson Cram is slowed on the track and works his way to pit road.
Lap 20, Jesse Love has a tenth of a second lead on Austin Hill; Justin Allgaier, Sheldon Creed, and Cole Custer round out the top five with 34 cars on the lead lap.
Lap 23, Justin Allgaier gets a run on the inside and passes Austin Hill for second and is in a battle for the lead. Allgaier falls back and is trying once again to pass Jess Love for the lead. Allgaier is the only driver on the inside lane. He gets past Jesse Love to take the lead on lap 26.
Lap 27, drivers are beginning to drop down to the inside lane.
Lap 29, Justin Allgaier leads the race with Jesse Love, Austin Hill, Sheldon Creed, and Cole Custer rounding out the top five.
Lap 33, Justin Allgaier has his “Mayo Missile” out in front with Austin Hill on his bumper; Jesse Love, Riley Herbst, and Sheldon Creed round out the top five.
Four laps remain in stage one, teammates Jesse Love and Austin Hill are in a battle for second.
Dawson Cram is out of the race.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Justin Allgaier winning the race off of pit road.
Josh Williams was caught speeding on pit road and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.
After staying out on the track, AJ Allmendinger brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 48. AJ Allmendinger gets a push from Sammy Smith to get out in front. Allgaier falls back to third place. Brandon Jones gave Justin Allgaier a push at first but then pulled out in the middle lane and is falling through the field.
Lap 50, the top five are AJ Allmendinger, Sammy Smith, Cole Custer, Riley Herbst, and Sam Mayer. Justin Allgaier is back in sixth place.
Lap 54, AJ Allmendinger leads the race with Sammy Smith in second; Cole Custer, Riley Herbst, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.
Lap 57, Justin Allgaier attempts to make his move again on the inside lane alone but has been unable to move up in the field.
Sheldon Creed gets slideways but saves the car, just missing Justin Allgaier, and the track stays green.
Lap 61, AJ Allmendinger holds on to a tenth of a second lead on Sammy Smith; Cole Custer, Riley Herbst, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.
Lap 62, Justin Allgaier jumps down to the inside lane again but remains in sixth place. He took only two tires during his pit stop.
Ap 65, not one to give up, Justin Allgaier is back on the inside lane looking to move up in the field but has failed to advance his position.
Lap 70, AJ Allmendinger holds on to the lead with Sammy Smith in second; Cole Custer, Riley Herbst, and Jesse Love round out the top five.
Austin Hill and Sheldon Creed are reporting some very loose cars.
Just six laps remain in stage two, AJ Allmendinger has led every lap of the stage so far.

Looking to make their final pit stop of the race, the drivers come down pit road for service and a packed fuel cell. Taylor Gray and Sheldon Creed win the race off of pit road after taking only two tires.
Sheldon Creed was charged with an uncontrolled tire on pit road. Ryan Truex was charged with pitting outside of his pit stall. Both drivers will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Out of the infield care center, Sam Mayer called the incident “just racing”; adding it was the most fun he has ever had at Atlanta.

Sammy Smith was charged with a safety violation during his pit stop and restarts the race at the back of the field.

With 47 laps to go, Cole Custer leads the race with chandler Smith in second; Riley Herbst, Jesse Love, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five. Justin Allgaier has entered the top 10.
With 42 to go, Cole Custer has a tenth of a second lead on Chandler Smith; Riley Herbst, Jesse Love, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five. Eighth place driver dropped down to the inside lane and advanced a spot before moving back in line in the outside lane.
CJ McLaughlin is off the track. Matt DiBenedetto is out of the race, Morgan Baird has returned to the track 21 laps down.
Just 36 laps to go, Cole Custer hold on to the lead as drivers begin to jockey for spots in the field. Justin Allgaier has entered the top five.
Thirty-one to go, Cole Custer and AJ Allmendinger battle for the lead. Custer holds on as Allmendinger falls back.

Chandler Smith drops down to the inside lane and takes the lead briefly before falling back to second.

With 27 to go, Justin Allgaier drops down to the inside lane and battles with Cole Custer for second place.
Just 25 laps to go, Chandler smith leads the race with Cole Custer in second; Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones, and Austin Hill round out the top five.
Brandon Jones drops down to the inside lane to battle for second but falls back in the field.

Twenty to go, Chandler Smith leads the race but Justin Allgaier drops down to the inside lane to battle for second with Cole Custer.
The caution flag comes out when Justin Allgaier tries to squeeze into a spot and reports contact cut a tire and started a wreck that collected several cars. Riley Herbst’s bumper cover is sitting on Jesse Love’s roof. Cole Custer, Riley Herbst, Jesse Love, Ryan Sieg, Taylor Gray, and Justin Allgaier were all involved.
NASCAR has red flagged the race.
The cars are moving once again. Justin Allgaier gives teammate Brandon Jones down pit road on his way to the garage – Jones had lost power. The crew gets the bumper cover off of Jesse Love’s car. The crew finally got Brandon Jones’ car started and moving again. He also had a flat tire.
Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag restart with just 13 laps remaining in the race with Austin Hill alongside. Austin Hill gets out in front.
