Well, for starters my ideal home would float!
But not a really small one. I have this vision of taking a decommissioned paddle wheel boat or maybe a barge and refurbishing it into a home…a floating home. 🙂
A paddle wheel boats has multiple decks and would provide plenty of space for a nice cabin for sleeping and space for a studio and music room, and maybe even a wee library – all the comforts of home.
While many marinas offer electricity and water services, refurbishing a boat like a paddle wheeler could include some solar panels for electrical service.
With today’s technology, it would be easy to access wireless and satellite phone, internet, and streaming services and always be in contact with the world. Of course, a small satellite dish might enable access to some services since such things are acquired via a microwave signal and line of sight with the satellites in space.
But in the end, it’s all about the peace and joy of living on the water. At least it is for me; but then again my ancestors were Norsemen and I guess you could say, it’s in my blood and certainly my genes.
