NASCAR has long looked to expand the series and move outside of the United States for one of its regular season races.
That dream is now coming true!
Next year, Daniel Suarez will get the opportunity to go home for a race when the Xfinity and Cup Series will be joined by the Mexico Series for some road racing at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.,
Named for brothers Pedro and Ricardo Rodríguez, Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a 17 turn 2.674 mile course.
Over a mile above sea level and in thinner air, the race could prove to be a big challenge for the crews and drivers.
Set for June 15, the Cup Series will see its first points racing outside the country. For the Xfinity Series, it will be a return to Mexico who ran in Mexico City from 2005 to 2008 where Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, and Denny Hamlin all won races.
While it will the first points racing outside of the country, NASCAR has previously run exhibition races in Japan and Australia. In 1952 and 1958, NASCAR ran a race in Canada.
Born in Monterrey, Mexico; Daniel Suarez will return to Mexico next season as a dual citizen after earning his U.S. citizenship earlier in the summer.
