When Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suarez gets behind the wheel next season, there will be one big change…he will no longer be known as a Mexican driver!
Suarez became an American citizen earlier this season.
Trackhouse has announced that the newest American citizen in NASCAR will return season to the Justin Marks, Pitbull owned team and the 99 car.
Freeway Insurance will also be coming back next season and will serve as the primary sponsor for the number 99 car in a third of the races.
In a team press release Suarez said, “Trackhouse is home to me, and I have enjoyed every minute I have been here. We plan to keep working, growing and winning more races. We can only do that with the support of my Amigos and Amigas at Freeway Insurance. They have backed me for the last several years and we have grown close with their customers and employees.”
Winning the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway earlier this season, Suarez is a part of one of the closest finishes in NASCAR history; beating Ryan Blaney by just 0.003 seconds.
While still a Mexican citizen, Suarez won the Xfinity Series championship in 2016 to make him the first international driver to win a NASCAR championship.
