Just six races remain in the regular season for the Cup Series. Last week in Chicago, Alex Bowman became the 12th different driver this season to win a race; leaving just four spot open in the 16 driver round one of the playoffs.
Once the regular season ends, all of the drivers who have qualified for the playoff in each series will have their points reset to 2,000 with any playoff and stage points added. Plus the drivers receive bonus points for finishing the regular season in the top 10 with the winner earning an extra 15 points; with the second place driver getting 10 points, third place gets eight points, etc. until the 10th place driver gets a single point.
