The Jimmy Awards pays tribute to the best in high school musical theatre. The 2024 Jimmy Awards were presented on June 24 with award winning entertainer Josh Groban.
The awards ceremony is the culmination of a week of workshops, events, and master classes.
The big winners at this year’s awards are Damson Chola Jr and Gretchen Shope who not only took home the Best Performance awards for acting. Along with the awards comes a $25,000 scholarship to continue their education.
Damson Chola won his award for his portrayal of Syemour in “Little Shop of Horrors” and Gretchen Shope won for her role in “Alice by Heart”.
Finalists James Thibault, Fabiola Caraballo Quijada, Catherine Dosier, Luke Martin, Samia Posadas, and Peter Dessert all received a $5,000 scholarship.
In the past the Jimmy Awards have served as a stepping stone for young artists to make their way to Broadway.
