Tony Stewart announced that at the end of the 2024 racing season Stewart-Haas Racing would be ending their operations.
This week Gene Haas – of Stewart-Haas Racing – announced that the Haas Factory Team would be fielding a Cup Series car and two Xfinity Series cars beginning with the 2025 racing season.
Stewart-Haas Racing has four charters, Gene Haas will retain one of those charters for the new Cup Series team.
Haas spoke on the new team saying, “my commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement. Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.
He added, “maintaining my presence in Cup allows Haas Automation to compete at NASCAR’s highest level, which is important to our customers and distributors. The Xfinity Series program provides a full weekend experience for our guests, and it delivers added depth and scale to our overall operation.”
Gene Haas has been a part of NASCAR since 2002. Jack Sprague, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, and Cole Custer have all driven for Haas. As an owner, Haas has 69 Cup Series victories.
Joe Custer has been named president of the Haas Factory Team; using the current Stewart-Haas Racing shop as their base of operations.
Drivers will be named as the new season approaches.
