Recently, Front Row Motorsports driver Michael McDowell announced that he would be leaving the team at the end of the season and moving over to Spire Motorsports to join Carson Hocevar and Corey LaJoie..

But, fellow FRM driver Todd Gilliland has announced that he is not only staying at Front Row, but will be doing so for the foreseeable future.

Currently in his third year as a Cup Series driver, the third generation driver is the wheelman for the number 38 car at FRM.

Via a press release Gilliland said, “I want to be at Front Row Motorsports, and I want to be a part of what’s happening right now.  This is the time to join as a partner, a fan, and watch our next chapter. It’s really cool to see it all happening, and I have to thank Bob Jenkins and Jerry Freeze for their commitment in taking the steps to make us a consistent winning and playoff organization. It’s never easy, but I feel confident in our direction. I’m excited to see what the future holds.”

FRM has acquired a third charter and is looking to expand the team for the future.  Resigning Gilliland is the first step in building that team.

Front Row Motorsports owner Bob Jenkins spoke on Gilliland and his driving for FRM via a press release saying, “Todd (Gilliland) and his family have been with my family and the team for a very long time. “We’ve watched him grow, mature, and show all his potential behind our truck and car. It’s now his time to lead us into our next phase of winning races and being a consistent playoff contender.”

While currently 22nd in the point standings, Gilliland has shown improvement during his time at FRM.  At the Talladega Superspeedway race in April, he earned a top 10 finish.  He is a two time ARCA Series winner and a three time Craftsman Truck Series winner; but has yet to notch a win in the Cup Series.
