The call him “The Captain”!
Team Penske owner Roger Penske owns cars in both IndyCar and NASCAR. Last week in the Indianapolis 500 he notched win number 20 in 500 wins when Josef Newgarden crossed the finish line first for a back to back win.
On Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway, Penske earned win number 143 when the driver of his number two car. Austin Cindric got his second career NASCAR win after an 85 race drought.
Since beginning his NASCAR team, Roger Penske has had just 10 drivers cross the finish line first…
Mark Donohue earned his only NASCAR win while driving for Team Penske.
Now a two itme winner, Austin Cindric has gotten both of his wins while driving for “The Captain”.
Jeremy Mayfield earned three of his five career wins as a Team Penske driver.
During the course of his racing career, Bobby Allison won a total of 84 NASCAR races; but only four of them were while driving for Team Penske.
Current Team Penske driver and reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion, Ryan Blaney has earned nine of his 10 career wins as a Team Penske driver.
It seems that Kurt Busch has driven…and won…for ever major NASCAR owner; including Roger Penske. Ten of Busch’s 33 wins came while driving for Roger Penske.
Rocket man Ryan Newman won 13 of his 18 career wins as a Team Penske driver.
Current Team Penske driver and two time champion Joey Logano has won nearly off of his wins while driving for “The Captain”. Logano has won 30 of his 32 career wins at Team Penske.
Now a part owner in his own team, Brad Keselowski spent some time driving for Team Penske and all but one of his wins came while at Team Penske – 34 of his 35 wins.
But the driver who tops the list in wins got Roger Penske 37 NASCAR wins when Rusty Wallace earned 37 of his 55 career wins driving the number two (that other beer car).
