Broadway continues to enjoy a boom with nine of the new shows earning their highest box office numbers last week. “The Lion King” got a little company in the $2 Million club last week when “Cabaret” brought in $2 Million.
The viewing season for the upcoming Tony Award season is in full swing; helping to boost the numbers. Broadway productions brought in over $35 million last week with nearly 287,000 people attending a production on Broadway.
A total of 14 of the 35 shows currently running this season have joined the $1 Million this week:

“The Wiz”
“Moulin Rouge! The Musical”
“Merrily We Roll Along”
“Hell’s Kitchen”

“The Great Gatsby”

“An Enemy of the People”
“The Outsiders”
In the 90 percent club, six of the productions had at least 100 percent capacity with “An Enemy of the People” topping the list with 103.3 percent. Twenty-two of the 35 productions running had an audience capacity of at least 90 percent last week.
