It’s another week of triple header action in NASCAR with all three of the series on the mile and a half track at Texas Motor Speedway.
Thirty-four teams brought trucks to the track including two time Cup Series champion and the sports winningest driver Kyle Busch to race in the SpeedyCash 250. Rowdy has a total of 19 wins at Texas across all three of the racing series.
Zane Smith and Johnny Sauter are also in the race tonight.
For five of the 34 drivers, this is their first time at TMS.
Last week the drivers barely hit the three digit mark in speeds; this week they will top 180mph as they navigate the oval.
Drivers get a 20 minute practice session before taking to the track for single truck, single lap qualifying.
Just a few minutes into practice, Tanner Gray brings out the caution and red flag when he gets into the wall after getting loose.
No resin or traction compound has been laid on the track but there is some on the track that has embedded itself in the track from previous applications.
Once the drivers get back on the track, NASCAR has added three minutes to the practice session.
Tyler Ankrum also gets into the wall…in the same spot as Tyler Ankrum. He reports that the nose just got away from him. The caution and red flag are out once again. There is still some 15 minutes remaining in the practice session.
Any driver involved in a crash whether it be practice, qualifying, or the race must visit the infield care center and get cleared before they may get back in their vehicles.
Christian Eckes, Corey Heim, Nick Sanchez, and Rajah Caruth have all secured spots in the playoffs with race wins.
Tanner Gray and Tyler Ankrum are out of the infield care center and will be moving to a backup truck for the race.
Practice is over and qualifying begins. Memphis Villareal is the first driver on the track to make a qualifying run and posted a time of 31.079 seconds around the mile and a half track.
For the second year in a role, Nick Sanchez puts his number two truck on the pole with a time of 29. 219 seconds with Christian Eckes starting alongside on the front row for the second week in a row.

Layne Riggs in seventh place is the first Ford in the field. Gregg Biffle was the last Ford driver to win a race at Texas back in 2000.
Tyler Ankrum and Tanner Gray are starting the race from the back of the field after crashes during practice and moving to a backup truck; Memphis Villareal, Bret Holmes, and Rajah Caruth will also have to start the race from the back of the field after crews made unapproved adjustments to the trucks.
Stages one and two of the race are 40 laps each with stage three lasting 87 laps for a total of 167 laps around the mile and a half track. The drivers can run 50 to 44 laps on a single load of fuel.
Sitting on the pole for the second year in a row, Nick Sanchez brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the inside lane with Christian Eckes alongside. Sanchez has a slight lead going into turn one for the lead. Corey Heim gets loose and slides up the track but keeps it off the wall.
The first caution of the race comes out on lap three for a big crash between Thad Moffitt and Memphis Villareal. Tyler Ankrum also has some damage to his truck. Ankrum crashed during practice and started the race in a backup truck. Thad Moffitt has an issue with the truck and makes contact with Tyler Ankrum. Memphis Villareal had no place to go and hits Moffitt.
Tyler Ankrum and Thad Moffitt are out of the race.
Matt Mills has a tear-off stuck to the grille of his truck.
Nick Sanchez brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap nine with Sanchez and Christian Eckes going nose to nose. Drivers spread out three wide across the track.
Nick Sanchez gets out in front with Christian Eckes in second; Stewart Friesen, Kyle Busch, and Grant Enfinger round out the top five.
Lap 12, Nick Sanchez has pulled out to a lead of a half a second on Stewart Friesen.
Rajah Caruth brings out the second caution flag of the race when he gets loose and spins out but manages to keep it off the wall. He locks up the tires and will have to pit for a fresh set. The drivers only have three sets of tires in the pits.
A few of the drivers come down pit road for service.
Thad Moffitt said that he didn’t know what happened in his truck but thinks something broke.
Nick Sanchez brings the field down for the green flag restart once again from the inside lane with Christian Eckes alongside on lap 17. Drivers gets three and four wide in a battle for position with Christian Eckes getting out in front for the lead. Sanchez and Kyle Busch battle for second.
Lap 19, the top five are Christian Eckes, Nick Sanchez, Kyle Busch, Zane Smith, and Stewart Friesen.
Lap 20, after starting the race from the back of the field and spinning out, Raja Caruth is just outside the top 20 in 21st.
Lap 22, Christian Eckes has a narrow lead on Nick Sanchez; Kyle Busch, Zane Smith, and Daniel Dye round out the top five.
Lap 29, Christian Eckes has a near half second lead on Nick Sanchez; Kyle Busch, Zane Smith, and Daniel Dye round out the top five.
Johnny Sauter and Kyle Busch are tied for five wins each at Texas Motor Speedway; but there is one driver who holds the record with six – Todd Bodine.
Lap 33, Kyle Busch passes Nick Sanchez for second with Christian Eckes over a half second out in front.
There are 28 trucks on the lead lap.
With five laps remaining in stage one, Kyle Busch is slowly closing the gap on leader Christian Eckes.

Daniel Dye had a slow stop on pit road with a right tire issue.

Drivers are battling all through the field.
Lap 48 and the sun has gone down; Corey Heim and Kyle Busch battle for the lead; Heim almost gets it. Nick Sanchez and Christian Eckes are right behind them.
Lap 50, Christian Eckes passes Nick Sanchez for third.
Lap 52, Nick Sanchez retakes third from Christian Eckes with Kyle Busch leading the race by a third of a second.
Lap 53, the top five are Kyle Busch, Corey Heim, Nick Sanchez, Christian Eckes, and Taylor Gray.
There are 27 truck on the lead lap.
Lap 55, Kyle Busch has pulled out to a half second lead on Corey Heim; Nick Sanchez, Christian Eckes, and Taylor Gray round out the top five.
Lap 57, Kyle Busch’s lead is now over a second on Corey Heim with 27 trucks on the lead lap.
Lap 62, Kyle Busch continues to increase his lead and is now over a second and a half in front of Corey Heim; Nick Sanchez, Christian Eckes, and Taylor Gray round out the top five.
Matt Crafton in18th is reporting an ill handing truck; saying that he is way free.
Lap 65, Kyle Busch continues his charge through the field and now has a near two and a half second lead on Corey Heim. He is running the fastest laps on the track.
Lap 69, Kylee Busch continues his march around the track with Corey Heim in second; Nick Sanchez, Christian Eckes, and Taylor Gray round out the top five.
Just six laps remain in stage two with Kyle Busch leading Nick Sanchez by over two seconds; Christian Eckes, Corey Heim, and Taylor Gray round out the top five. Busch is lapping trucks and there are now 25 trucks on the lead lap.
Lap 79, Kyle Busch continues to lead the race but Nick Sanchez has closed the gap to just over a second.

Lap 99, Corey Heim, Christian Eckes, and Nick Sanchez continue their battle for the right to battle leader Kyle Busch. Busch has a lead of over a second on Christian Eckes.
Lap 102, Christian Eckes is once again chasing down Kyle Busch and has closed the gap to under a second. Nick Sanchez, Corey Heim, and Taylor Gray round out the top five.
With 59 laps to go, Kyle Busch has increased his lead ot nearly a second and a half on Christian Eckes; Nick Sanchez, Corey Heim, and Taylor Gray round out the top five.
With 58 laps to go, Layne Riggs is the first driver to make a green flag pit stop; but has a tire issue.
With 56 laps to go the drivers are just on the outside edge of being able to make it to the end of the race.
With 55 laps to go, Kyle Busch is approaching slower traffic. Nick Sanchez passes Christian Eckes for second. Kyle Busch as a lead of over a second on Nick Sanchez.

Just 48 laps remain in the race; leader Kyle Busch has lapped slower cars and there are only 18 cars on the lead lap as green flag pit stops begin.

Chase Purdy was caught speeding on pit road and will have to serve a pass-through penalty.
With 41 laps to go, the top six drivers have yet to make a pit stop.
Forty to go, Kyle Busch brings his number seven truck down pit road for his green flag stop. Christian Eckes gives up the lead to make his pit stop. Zane Smith is the new leader.
With 38 laps to go, Kyle Busch comes back out on the track in third.
Zane Smith is the last driver to make a pt stop but the caution flag comes out as he heads down pit road. Smith did not stop but drove through pit road to wait and pit under caution.
Layne Riggs brough out the caution with 36 laps to go when he gets into the slick stuff and looses control.
There are just nine trucks on the lead lap.
With just 31 laps to go, NASCAR finally opens pit road and Zane Smith brings his truck down pit road for service. Kyle Busch resumes the lead.
Eight drivers take the wave around to get back on the lead lap for16 trucks on the lead lap.

Twenty-five to go, Kyle Busch leads the race; Chrisitan Eckes, Taylor Gray, Corey Heim and Nick Sanchez round out the top five.

Just 23 to go, Kyle Busch has a near half second lead on Christian Eckes.
Johnny Sauter gets out of the groove but saves the truck.
The sixth caution flag of the race comes out with just 22 laps to go when Kris Wright gets loose. Mason Massey and Stewart Friesen were also involved.
With 20 laps remaining in the race, Kyle Busch has led 101 of the 147 laps run so far.
Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart with just 17 laps to go. The drivers get three wide in a battle for the lead. Big wreck to bring out the caution flag with just 16 laps to go. When the caution flag came out Christian Eckes had just edges out Kyle Busch for the lead.
Dean Thompson gets loose and makes contact with the number nine truck of Grant Enfinger. Matt Crafton also has some slight damage to his truck.

Six to go, Kyle Busch has the lead with Corey Heim and Nick Sanchez in a battle for second.
Five to go, Kyle Busch holds on to the lead but Corey Heim is on his bumper and looking to take the win.
Three to go, Kyle Busch has just a quarter of a second lead on Corey Heim – a driver that used to work for Busch at KBM.
