The Canadian band Tragically Hip had a long and storied career in their homeland…a career that came to an end with the death of Gord Downie from a brain tumour.
Now fans will be able to celebrate the lives and careers of the award winning trio via their official anthology “This is Our Life”.
Due out in the fall of 2024, this is not a ghost written glorified unauthorized event but a book written by the band members themselves. The anthology will be available in hardback from book sellers everywhere; but a special limited edition is also being offered. Just 1,000 copies of a Deluxe hand-crafted book and record (a seven inch vinyl featuring two previously unreleased songs) boxed set will also be signed by the surviving band members. The gold foil signature page also includes the footprints of Gord Downie in the boots he worn on that final tour. The special limited edition anthology also includes some other special goodies.
Fans can pre-order the book now at TheTragicallyHipBook.com. The bookstore version is also available for pre-order from book retailers.
A 130,000 word compilation, “This is Our Life” includes text from hundreds of hours of interviews from the band, producers, crew and fellow musicians and begins with The Hip in Kingston, Ontario and runs all the way through their final performance in 2016 that was broadcast live across Canada and viewed by over eleven million fans.
The anthology also includes some 300 pages of archived, rare and outtake photographs; including some from the personal collections of band members.
The Tragically Hip have sold over 10 million albums in Canada alone and have earned 17 Juno (Canadian Grammy) Awards.
