NASCAR got its first two time winner over the weekend at the first road course race of the season when William Byron won the EchoPark Grand Prix at Circuit of the America’s.
While there were a number of penalties for short cutting the esses and going below the line, the race ended with all 39 drivers on the track and no cautions for on track incidents. The only cautions were at the stage breaks which had been re-instated for this year.
In the post inspection process, the Rick Ware Racing number 51 car driven by Justin Haley was disqualified for not meeting the weight limits. As a result, Haley has been placed in last place.
Willim Byron leads in the playoff points with two race wins; but it is Martin Truex Jr who leads the driver standings with 220 points.
