It was a wild weekend of racing for the Cup Series at Thunder Valley.  The track refused to take rubber and the traction compound – resin – failed to do its job as well.  As a result, there were large marbles everywhere and the drivers went through over 10 sets of tires in 500 laps.

This year Bristol Motor Speedway dispensed with the dirt and returned to the concrete; much to the excitement of fans and drivers.

Denny Hamlin outwitted the worn out tires to cross the finish line first for the fifth different driver to win a race in this early season.

Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr are tied for the lead but Larson is in first place after earning more stage points.

While the rankings for playoff standings are yet to be released, Kyle Larson the five drivers who have won a race so far.
