Actor Frankie Muniz has turned his attention toward full time NASCAR racing.  Last year he ran his first full year in the ARCA Menards Series where he ended the season n the top five.

This year Muniz is moving up to the Xfinity Series where he will be driving a limited schedule for Joey Gase Motorsports in the number 35 car including, he hopes, in the United Rentals 300 at Daytona International Speedway to kick off the 2024 racing season.  His complete 2024 racing schedule will be released at a later date.

Muniz spoke on his getting the opportunity to drive in the Xfinity Series saying, “I am very fortunate to have the unwavering support of Ford and Ford Performance through my NASCAR journey, and I am very humbled yet excited to be teamed up with Joey Gase Motorsports to attempt my NASCAR Xfinity Series debut next weekend at Daytona International Speedway.”

JGM has acquired the owner place from last season for the 35 car – the car finished in 25th place.  The points will help to ensure Muniz a spot in the race should inclement weather cancel out qualifying.

JGM owner Joey Gase spoke on Muniz saying, “Joey Gase Motorsports is proud to welcome Frankie to the team.  Undoubtedly, he brings a lot of attention to our team and the NASCAR Xfinity Series, but throughout the last couple of weeks, I’ve never seen a driver more determined or focused than Frankie.”

Gase added, “he will be an asset to our program this season, and I look forward to joining him as a teammate in our number 53 National Crime Prevention Council car at Daytona.”

Muniz spoke on moving up to the Xfinity Series saying, “I know that moving up to Xfinity is a big leap for me, given my limited experience in stock cars.  I understand the challenges ahead and know it will not always be easy. I want to thank (NASCAR officials) Wayne Auton and Brett Bodine at NASCAR for believing in me and allowing me to compete in the Xfinity Series this season.”

He concluded, “I know that I have an enormous amount to learn, but you won’t find someone more dedicated than I am when it comes to chasing a dream.”
