The NASCAR Mexico Series makes history when they join the Cup Series drivers at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles for the KingTaco Battle at the Coliseum exhibition race. The drivers, which includes Cup Series driver Daniel Suarez, will race 150 or run for 60 minutes with all laps counting.
Mexican born driver Daneil Suarez is a former Mexico Series champion and many of the drivers in the current series look to Suarez not only for inspiration, but as a goal for their future – to drive in the NASCAR’s Xfinity and Cup Series.
Twenty-one drivers lined up for the race that was not only trying to beat each other; but beat the rain as well that was moving in for an extended stay.
Normally driving on larger tracks, the mechanics had to make a number of changes to the cars.
With just 37 laps remaining in the race, it begins to sprinkle.
Despite the looming deluge, the race completed all 150 laps with just 10 cars on the lead lap. A fairly clean race, there were five caution flags with numerous side by side battles all through the track.
He failed to make The Clash, but Daniel Suarez took the checkered flag winning the Battle at the Coliseum Mexico Series race at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.
Daniel worked with his former Mexico Series team for the race. While he led 30 laps, Suarez said that he didn’t feel he was the fastest car on the track but saved his tires and brakes for the long run.
