NASCAR driver Spencer Boyd and Chris Miller have joined forces to create Freedom Racing Enterprises and run a full time schedule in the Craftsman Truck Series.

Boyd himself will drive the number 76 Chevrolet Silverado truck for the team beginning with the 2024 race at Daytona International Speedway.

Boyd has previously made 108 starts in the Truck Series with a win in 2019 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Former FOX broadcaster and long time crew chief for Darrell Waltrip, Jeff Hammond will serve as the general manager for FRE; with Greg Ely as crew chief and Rick Bourgeois as truck chief.

Boyd spoke on the new team via a press release saying, “this is a wildly proud moment for me.  If you asked a wide-eyed 20-year-old me at Martinsville Speedway if I was going to start my own NASCAR team in the next decade, I might have laughed it off. I have been blessed to be able to race cars for a living and remain part of the NASCAR family for as long as I have. I wouldn’t be here without a small group of very important people to my career, so I definitely want to thank them for believing in me through thick and thin. They know who they are and hope they are sharing in this feeling of pride.”

Co-owner Chris Miller’s company Freedom Warranty will serve as the primary sponsor on the truck with the remainder of sponsors for the season yet to be announced.
