How have your political views changed over time?

DISCLAIMER: The remarks here are MY own thoughts and opinions!

In my younger days, politics was something I ignored and avoided. It held no interest to me.

I had no interest in casting my vote for anyone who only told me…and the rest of the voters…what they wanted to hear; only to get into office and do whatever they pleased only to enhance their own reputation and bank accounts.

But in 2016 all that changed…a man who knew nothing of how the government was run wanted to be the President of the United States and be Commander in Chief of the largest military machine in the world.

It seemed that there was no way this interloper could win the election. Could the nation’s voters really be that blind???

But he did!

As a journalist, I was used to having the alarm go off on my phone to warn me of some breaking news story (or perceived breaking news). My response was uh oh what happened now or who died now? But once the 45th President of the United States took office, my responses changed to. “oh, no, what’d he do now???”

I still have little interest in politics itself; after all, Congress is even fuller of blowhards who only care about themselves and how they can profit from their position. But I find myself reading more news articles on the events, if nothing more, than to just see how bad things have gotten and if it can get any worse.

Of course, what looks good…or bad…depends on the person’s own point of view. That same interloper is once again looking to occupy the White House; but this time he has vengeance…not running the country…on his mind
