While the numbers were up again last week for Broadway, the Great White Way is still looking for those pre-pandemic numbers to appear; however, over half of the current 26 shows running were a part of the 90 percent capacity list and were in the million dollar club with three shows topping $2 million.
“The Lion King” continues to top all the charts, but there is one thing even this king hasn’t been able to break – the highest price ticket sales. “Merrily We Roll Along” has an average ticket price of $250 with its highest priced tickets going for $650! The Broadway average for ticket prices is $140. Productions around Broadway brought in over $31 million last week with $2.5 million of that courtesy of “The Lion King”. “Hamilton” and “Wicked” also topped the $2 million mark.
Although down from last year’s number, it should be noted that at this same time last year, there were nearly three dozen productions running.
