After leading the field in Grammy nominations, SZA ruled the awards at the annual Soul Train Awards on November 26 when she took home four music awards.  The 2024 Super Bowl halftime entertainer Usher followed with three.

Keke Palmer hosted the gala event where performers included Coco Jones, BJ The Chicago Kid, Muni Longs, SWV, Janelle Monae, and T-Pain.

With the popularity of Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand”, a new show was created by Don Cornelius that catered to R&B and Soul artists he called “Soul Train”.  The “Soul Train Awards” is named after that popular music and dance show; honouring the best in African-American music, culture, and entertainment.
