The Xfinity Series begins the round of eight with the Alsco Uniforms 302 from Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
A total of 40 years brought cars to the Las Vegas for 38 starting spots.
Earlier this week it was announced that Sheldon Creed would not be returning to the number two car next season. Currently Creed is among the eight remaining playoff drivers but is sitting 12 points below the cut line as the next round of the playoffs is set to begin.
But Riley Herbst will return next season to drive the number 98 car.
Sammy Smith will be remaining in the Xfinity Series but will be driving for a new owner next season when he moves from Joe Gibbs Racing to JR Motorsports to replace Josh Berry in the number eight car.
Ryan Reed returns to the track after an extended absence. He has not been in an Xfinity Series car since 2019.
Again this week, John Hunter Nemechek’s car is leaking fluid and helps to push the car to the garage for repairs and will not make a qualifying run for the second week in a row. Last week Nemechek had to start the race from the back of the field after not making a qualifying run due to a fluid leak. As a result of last week’s issues, Nemechek will not get to make a pit stall selection this week or next. NASCAR will give him a pit stall for this week.
After a 20 minute practice session, the drivers make a qualifying run with Dawson Cram the first driver on the track and posted a time of 30.350 seconds around the mile and a half track.
Layne Riggs is the first driver to break the 30 seconds mark with a time of 29.959 seconds.
Stefan Parsons has a smoking car while making his qualifying run.
Parker Retzlaff’s car is smoking during his qualifying run but posts a quick enough time at 29,804 seconds to put his number 31 car at the top of the leaderboard.
Las Vegas native Riley Herbst joined some breast cancer survivors to pain the start/finish line pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Posting a time of 29.671 seconds Josh Berry puts his number eight JR Motorsports car on the pole for his fourth career pole.

Garrett Smithley and Gray Gaulding failed to qualify for the race.
After crews made some unapproved adjustments to the cars Stefan Parsons, Patrick Emerling, Josh Williams, and Riley Herbst will all be starting the race from the back of the field. John Hunter Nemechek will start the race from the back of the field after a crash during practice.
Stages one and two of the race are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 111 laps for a total of 201 laps around the mile and a half track.
Josh Berry brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside lane with Cole Custer alongside. Drivers gets three wide going into turn two with Josh Berry and Cole Custer side by side. Josh Berry gets out in front for the lead.
Lap two, the top five ae Josh Berry, Chandler Smith, Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Sammy Smith.
Lap four, the caution flag comes out for Patrick Emerling’s heavily smoking car. There is fluid all around the track.
When the caution flag came out, John Hunter Nemechek has moved up to 19th place after starting the race from the back of the field.
A few drivers came down pit road for service.
Josh Berry brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap eleven with Chandler Smith alongside. Chandler Smith takes the lead from the inside lane.
A couple of drivers scrape the wall but the track stays green.
Lap 12, Chandler Smith leads the race with Josh Berry in second; Cole Custer, Daniel Hemric, and Sammy Smith round out the top five.
Joe Graf Jr gets into the wall on lap 13 and brings out the second caution flag of the race. Brett Moffitt also hit the wall prior to Graf.
Earlier this week Josh Williams and his wife announced that they will be having a baby girl next March.
Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag restart from the outside lane on lap 19 with Josh Berry alongside. Smith gets out in front for the lead with Cole Custer taking second; Josh Berry, Sammy Smith, and Daniel Hemric round out the top five.
The drivers are getting three wide on the track.
Lap 21, Chandler Smith has a half second lead on Cole Custer; Josh Berry, Sammy Smith, and Daniel Hemric round out the top five.
Lap 23, John Hunter Nemechek has entered the top 10.
Lap 26, Chandler Smith continues to lead the race with Cole Custer in second; Sammy Smith, Josh Berry, and Daniel Hemric round out the top five.
Lap 29, Chandler Smith’s lead is down to less than half a second on Cole Custer; Sammy Smith, Daniel Hemric, and Austin Hill round out the top five. John Hunter Nemechek is just outside of the top five in sixth place.
Lap 36, Cole Custer has caught leader Chandler Smith and battles for the lead. New leader, Cole Custer.
Lap 37, the top five are Cole Custer, Chandler Smith, Sammy Smith, Daniel Hemric, and Austin Hill. There are 35 drivers on the lead lap. Patrick Emerling and Joe Graf Jr are out of the race.
Josh Berry is reporting a free condition in his car.
Sam Mayer is also reporting a very free condition and the car is very difficult to drive.

Cole Custer brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two with Daniel Hemric alongside on lap 53. Daniel Hemric and Cole Custer battle for the lead with Custer finally getting out in front.
The caution flag comes out on lap 54 for a crash involving Kaz Grala, Rajah Caruth, Brennan Poole, Jeremy Clements, Anthony Alfredo, Josh Williams, and Kyle Weatherman. Kaz Grala blew an engine and was spewing fluid all over the track. NASCAR has displayed the red flag in order to get the track cleaned up.
After an eight and a half minute delay, NASCAR pulls the red flag and displays the yellow flag. Crews can now work on the cars.
Austin Hill has to bring his car down pit road with a loose wheel.
Cole Custer brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 59. Drivers quickly get three wide across the track. Cole Custer and Daniel Hemric battle for the lead with Josh Hunter Nemechek behind them. Cole Custer gets out in front to hold on to the lead.
Lap 60, the top five are Cole Custer, John Hunter Nemechek, Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric, and Riley Herbst. There are 29 cars on the lead lap.
Lap 64, Cole Custer has a near half second lead on John Hunter Nemechek; Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric, and Riley Herbst round out the top five.
Lap 68, Riley Herbst passes Daniel Hemric for fourth.
Lap 71, Sam Mayer enters the top 10.
Lap 77, Cole Custer continues to lead the race but John Hunter Nemechek has the 00 car in his sights; Justin Allgaier is in third place nearly two seconds back with Riley Herbst and Daniel Hemric rounding out the top five.
Lap 80, Riley Herbst passes Justin Allgaier for third.
Sheldon Creed reports that he is losing grip; adding that the car is not good. He is currently in 13th.
With six laps remaining in stage two, Riley Herbst has caught the leaders Cole Custer and John Hunter Nemechek.

After failing to make the playoffs, Las Vegas native Riley Herbst gets his first ever Xfinity Series win before friends and family after starting the race at the back of the field.
After filling the cockpit with smoke from his burnout, Riley Herbst jumped up and down on the car in celebration. Herbst said that he couldn’t express what the win means to him or even believe that he won the race. He and the crew climbed the fence in celebration of the win.
