This past weekend the weather offered a pleasant alternative to sitting inside, watching football as families attended the annual wildlife festival at the Power Authority in Lewiston, New York.
The festival offers plenty of activities for children with a small fishing pond, a Rockwall, and even at shooting bows and arrows if they are tall enough. There is also face painting and plenty of tables with information on all sorts of outdoor activities, and even art projects for the small ones.

Visitors can learn about conservation wildlife fishing, and even how the police officers trained the dogs who serve with them.
An artist is also on hand, demonstrating how to create some beautiful artistic works out of pieces of wood, using a chainsaw!

And what wildlife festival would be complete without animals. There were birds of flight and the monkeys showing off some of their tricks.
The highlight as a festival is always a Tuscarora tent where visitors can sample native food and wildlife, such as corn soup, eel, frog legs, rabbit, and even some alligator. There were also displays of how things were done and times past and the equipment used for the time-honored game of lacrosse. Outside the tent, the Niagara River Iroquois Dancers offered shows with social dances and offering visitors a chance to join in if they wished to participate in the fun.
