Since the departure of Noah Gragson from Legacy Motor Club team has had a revolving door of drivers to fill in behind the wheel of the number 42 car.

On August 27 LMC announced that Craftsman Truck Series playoff driver Carson Hocevar will be filling in behind the wheel of the 42 on Sunday for the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

After his second place finish at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, Hocevar has a week off from the Truck Series where he has three wins this season.

Hocevar spoke on his driving the 42 car at Darlington saying, “this is a great opportunity to get some seat time in the Cup Series and help out the team at Legacy MC.  I had the chance earlier this year to race at St. Louis in the Cup Series. I’m looking forward to working with Luke (Lambert) and the number 42 team, and if anyone knows how to get around Darlington, Erik Jones (driver of the LMC 43 car) does, so it will be great to have him as a teammate.”

LMC CEO Cal Wells III spoke on Hocevar saying, “Carson is a very talented driver and has a bright future.  We are thankful to Chevrolet, Spire Motorsports and Niece Motorsports for making this happen and look forward to seeing what he can do in the number 42 this weekend.”

Previously, Hocevar had been scheduled to drive the Spire Motorsports number 77 car in the Xfinity Series race at Darlington, but will now forego that ride to concentrate on driving the LMC 42 car in the Cup Series race.
