For the second week in a row, NASCAR goes road racing with the Xfinity and Cup Series. This week the drivers traveled to central New York and the Finger Lakes area to Watkins Glen.
In the Xfinity Series, 40 teams have brought cars to fill 38 starting spots including Cup Series regulars Alex Bowman, Ross Chastain, Ty Gibbs, and a now rare appearance from Kyle Busch. The top five from each group will move on to a second round of qualifying to make a run for the pole.

The top five from Group A moving on to round two of qualifying are Josh Berry, Cole Custer, Kyle Busch, Sammy Smith, and Sam Mayer. Sam Mayer got loose and nearly had the car sideways but still posted a time of 71.495 seconds to place second.
