For the second week in a row, NASCAR goes road racing with the Xfinity and Cup Series.  This week the drivers traveled to central New York and the Finger Lakes area to Watkins Glen. 

In the Xfinity Series, 40 teams have brought cars to fill 38 starting spots including Cup Series regulars Alex Bowman, Ross Chastain, Ty Gibbs, and a now rare appearance from Kyle Busch.  With Hollywood at a near standstill, stuntman Stanton Barrett has a little extra time on his hands for racing and is looking to do a little road course racing this weekend.

Making career Xfinity start number 454 in the Shriners Children’s 200, Jeremy Clements enters the top five for Xfinity starts.

Before making a qualifying run, they will have 20 minutes of practice on the course.  Kyle Weatherman sends his car into the tire barriers but drives it away.

Again this week the drivers will qualify via group qualifying.  The drivers will have to try and avoid the other drivers to find a clean lap around the course.  The drivers will be divided into two groups where they will have 15 minutes to make their best lap.  The top five from each group will move on to a second round of qualifying to make a run for the pole.

Kaz Grala is the first driver to make a qualifying run and posts a time of 72.267 seconds.

The top five from Group A moving on to round two of qualifying are Josh Berry, Cole Custer, Kyle Busch, Sammy Smith, and Sam Mayer.  Sam Mayer got loose and nearly had the car sideways but still posted a time of 71.495 seconds to place second.

Justin Allgaier just misses the track record for qualifying with a time of 70.761 seconds.

From Group B, Justin Allgaier, Alex Bowman, Ty Gibbs, Riley Herbst, and Daniel Hemric will be moving on to round two of qualifying.

Ty Gibbs misses the track record by one thousandth of a second with a time of 70.549 seconds and puts his number 19 car on the pole.

Patrick Emerling and Casey Carden failed to qualify for the race.

Stages one and two of the race are only 20 laps each with stage three lasting 42 laps for a total of 82 laps.  The drivers can run around 30 laps on a single load of fuel.

Cole Custer, Alex Bowman, Brett Moffitt, and Parker Retzlaff will have to start the race from the back of the field after the crews made some unapproved adjustments to the cars.

This race is Xfinity start number 100 for Kyle Weatherman.

Ty Gibbs brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with Daniel Hemric alongside.  Gibbs gets out in front for the lead in turn one.  Justin Allgaier takes second.

Drivers are slinging dirt all over the track racing side by side.

Lap two, the drivers are getting three wide going into the turns.

Lap two, the top five are Ty Gibbs, Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, Sam Mayer, and Daniel Hemric.

Lap three, there are already three drivers not on the lead lap.

Ty Gibbs leads the race with Justin Allgaier in second; Kyle Busch, Sam Mayer, and Daniel Hemric round out the top five.

Lap four, Ty Gibbs has pulled out to a lead of nearly two seconds on Justin Allgaier.

Brennan Poole gets turned around after some contact from Max McLaughlin but gets the car moving again and the track stays green.

Sam Mayer passes Kyle Busch for third.

Josh Berry passes Daniel Hemric for fifth.

Lap six, Connor Mosack gets off the track but gets moving again and the track stays green.

Lap eight, Ty Gibbs has pulled out to a three second lead on Justin Allgaier; Sam Mayer, Kyle Busch, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap nine Sammy Smith and Austin Hill battle for sixth.

Since starting the race from the back of the field, Cole Custer has moved up 21 spots to 15th.

Josh Berry passes Kyle Busch for fourth after Busch makes a run in the grass.

Chandler Smith and Jeremy Clements make contact and sends the two cars spinning.  Clements has a flat tire.

There is a great deal of dirt and grass on the track.

Lap eleven, Kyle Busch makes an unscheduled trip down pit road with a flat tire.  Busch did not have a flat tire but a grille filled with grass and dirt causing the car to overheat.

Lap 12, Ty Gibbs has a lead of over three seconds on Justin Allgaier; Sam Mayer, Josh Berry, and Austin Hill round out the top five.  The top five are separated by 20 seconds.

Riley Herbst and Sammy Smith make contact on the track but both drivers save the cars.

Lap 13, Cole Custer is just outside the top 10 in eleventh.

Riley Herbst reports that the transmission is popping out of gear.

lap 16, Ty Gibbs has increased his lead to nearly four seconds on Justin Allgaier; Sam Mayer, Josh Berry, and Austin Hill round out the top five.

Blaine Perkins is off the track.

With three laps remaining in stage one, Cole Custer is in the top 10 in ninth place.

Parker Kligerman passes Sammy Smith for tenth.

Riley Herbst and Sheldon Creed are beating and banging as they battle for position.

Lap 19, Kyle Busch is the last car on the lead lap in 31st place.

With a lead of nearly four seconds, Ty Gibbs wins stage one.

The caution flag comes out on lap 21 when Ryan Ellis gets stopped on the track.

Chandler Smith was charged with going through too many pit boxes and will have to restart the race from the back of the field.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Ty Gibbs winning the race off of pit road.

Josh Williams has some serious damage to the front of his car and comes down pit road and has extended the caution.

Brett Moffitt takes his car to the garage with a broken axle.

Alex Bowman brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two with Ty Gibbs in second on lap 26 with Ty Gibbs taking the lead in turn one.

The top five are Ty Gibbs, Alex Bowman, Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill, and Josh Berry.

The drivers are beating and banging all through the field as they battle for positon.

Lap 29, there are 27 cars on the lead lap.

Josh Williams, Jeremy Clements, and Blain Perkins are out of the race.

Lap 30, Ty Gibbs continues to lead the race with Alex Bowman in second; Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill, and Josh Berry round out the top five.  Kyle Busch is slowly working his way back through the field and is currently in 17th place.

Kaz Grala makes a run through the grass and knocks over one of the Go Bowling banners; bringing out the caution flag.  There is a good bit of debris on the track…and Grala’s front grille.

Sammy Smith has some damage to the front of his car after some on track contact.

Ty Gibbs brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 34 and jumps out in front for the lead as Alex Bowman and Justin Allgaier battle for second.

Lap 34, the top five are Ty Gibbs, Jusitn Allgaier, Alex Bowman, Austin Hill, and Cole Custer.

Alex Bowman passes Justin Allgiaer for second.

Austin Hill passes Justin Allgaier for third.

Lap 38, Ty Gibbs has a lead of over two seconds on Alex Bowman; Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, and Cole Custer round out the top five.

Riley Herbst said that he can’t keep the car in gear. He has to hold the car in gear.

Riley Herbst brings his car down pit road.  He has a broken track bar and is smoking.

Connor Mosack gets off the track but keeps the car moving and gets back on the track depositing dirt and gravel.

There is a brake hose on the track.

Ryan Ellis is back on the track 21 laps down.

Lap 44, Ty Gibbs has pulled out to a lead of over four seconds on Alex Bowman; Austin Hill, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

Austin Hill and Cole Custer battle for third.

Stefan Parsons brings a smoking car down pit road.

The caution flag comes out on lap 46 when Max McLaughlin spins out and gets into the wall.

With 35 laps to go, it is questionable as to whether the drivers can make it to the end of the race on a single load of fuel.

Lap 35, drivers come down pit road for service with Austin Hill winning the race off of pit road and Ty Gibbs second.

Several crew chiefs are reporting that the drivers are three and four laps short of making it to the end of the race on fuel.

After staying out on the track, Kyle Weatherman brings the field down for the green flag restart with 32 laps remaining in the race.  Ty Gibbs makes it a three way battle for the lead and gets back out in front with the lead.

The top five are Ty Gibbs, Austin Hill, Alex Bowman, Cole Custer, and Sheldon Creed.

Justin Allgaier passes Sheldon Creed for fifth.

Kyle Weatherman is falling through the field after not making a pit stop during the caution flag.

Thirty to go, Ty Gibbs has a lead of over two seconds on Austin Hill; Alex Bowman, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.  There are 26 cars on the lead lap.

John Hunter Nemechek comes down pit road for a fuel only stop.  He can make it to the end of the race with no issues.  He is now the last car on the lead lap.

Sammy Smith also comes down pit road for a fuel only stop.

With 27 laps to go, Ty Gibbs has a three second lead on Austin Hill.  Gibbs cannot make it to the end of the race even with saving fuel.

Lap 59, the top five are Ty Gibbs, Austin Hill, Alex Bowman, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier.  Gibbs has led 50 of the 58 laps run so far.

Stanton Barrett is off the track.

There are 22 laps remaining in the race, drivers are working to save fuel.

Anthony Alfredo spins out but got the car turned around and the track stays green.

Twenty to go, Ty Gibbs continues to lead the race; Austin Hill, Alex Bowman, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

Cole Custer and Alex Bowman spin out after a battle for position but the track stays green and they get moving again.

With 18 to go, Cole Custer spins out into the grass and finally gets the car moving again; the track stays green.

Anthony Alfredo is off the track.

With 17 laps remaining in the race, Ty Gibbs has a lead of over three seconds; but he cannot make it to the end of the race on the fuel he has onboard.

Lap 68, Cole Custer makes a pit stop for fuel.

Fifteen to go, Kyle Busch reports that he has no third gear.  He is currently in eleventh place.

The top five are Ty Gibbs, Austin Hill, Sam Mayer, Justin Allgaier, and Alex Bowman.

There are only 21 cars on the lead lap.

Anthony Alfredo and Stanton Barrett are out of the race.

With 13 laps to go, Ty Gibbs has a lead of four and a half seconds on Austin Hill.

Austin Hill makes a pit stop for fuel.

Twelve to go, the top five are Ty Gibbs, Sam Mayer, Justin Allgaier, Alex Bowman, and Sheldon Creed.

Ten to go!  Ty Gibbs continues to dominate the race with Sam Mayer in second; Justin Allgaier, Alex Bowman, and Kaz Grala round out the top five.

Lap 73, leader Ty Gibbs comes down pit road for a fuel stop.  He returns to the race in fifth place.  Sam Mayer is the new leader.

Nine to go, the top five are Sam Mayer, Justin Allgaier, Alex Bowman, Sheldon Creed, and Ty Gibbs.

Ty Gibbs passes Sheldon Creed for fourth.

Kaz Grala and Daniel Hemric comes down pit road for fuel. Hemric has a slow stop stop with some sort of an issue.

Eight to go, Ty Gibbs passes Alex Bowman for fourth.

Parker Retzlaff gets into the gravel and is stuck; bringing out the caution flag.

Daniel Hemric takes his car to the garage with a mechanical issue.

Several drivers come down pit road for fuel and fresh tires.

Sam Mayer brings the field down for the green flag restart with just four laps remaining in the race with teammate Justin Allgaier alongside.  IN a four wide battle Ty Gibbs and Sam Mayer battle for the lead with Gibbs getting out in front.

Kaz Grala gets loose but saves the car.

Justin Allgaier spins out, sending cars everywhere, and brings out the caution flag.  There is debris all over the track.

The race goes into overtime!

John Hunter Nemechek has to come down pit road from eleventh to repair a door panel flapping around.  Nemechek cannot return to the race until the NASCAR official approves the repair.

Ty Gibbs brings the field down for the overtime shootout for the end of the race with Austin Hill alongside.  Gibbs edges out for the lead but gets tagged from behind.  Sam Mayer is smoking.  Sheldon Creed takes the lead.  Josh Berry spins out with fluid on the track.

Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer battle for the lead and Sam Mayer takes the white flag.

Sam Mayer wins the race with some masterful fuel conservation!
