In a stand alone event, the Xfinity Series goes road racing at Road America for the Road America 180 at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Early in the 50 minute practice session Brandon Jones and Sheldon Creed wrecked their cars on the newly paved course; causing some damage to their cars.
The big news of the day for the Xfinity Series is that beginning in 2025, the Xfinity will have a single home for fans to watch the races on television with The CW Network
Brett Moffitt, Katherine Legge, Kyle Weatherman, and Ryan Sieg also gets off the course and has damage to their cars.
The good news for the drivers is that 38 teams brought cars to the track; meaning all of the drivers will be in the race.
Among those drivers is Cup Series driver AJ Allmendinger is in the field and will run the race. With a driver change in the number 16 car, Allmendinger will have to start the race in Richmond from the back of the field. He is currently below the cut line for making the playoffs in the Cup Series.
Also in the lineup is a name race fans have not seen in a while…Hollywood stunt driver Stanton Barrett whose “day job” is giving movie and tv fans a thrill with some of his impressive stunts on wheels.
Brandon Jones will have to move to a backup car and will not make a qualifying run while the crew prepares the car for the race.
Just as the practice session ends, Alex Labbehas a major issue that leaves his car smoking and losing oil.
AJ Allmendinger was the fastest driver in practice with laps at two minutes and 12 seconds.
The drivers will make group qualifying runs with eight drivers not making a qualifying run due to various wreck or mechanical issues including Daniel Hemric, Brandon Jones, Ryan Elliss, and Kyle Weatherman.
The drivers have been split into two groups to make a 15 minute qualifying run with the top five drivers moving on to a second round to set the pole.
Cole Custer, AJ Allmendinger, John Hunter Nemechek, Sammy Smith, and Kaz Grala will all move on to round two of qualifying from group one.
Jeremy Clements gets off the course while making a qualifying run and has to take his car to pit road with damage.
Breaking into the two minute 10 second mark, Justin Allgaier puts his number seven car at the top for the leaderboard for group two in qualifying.
Ryan Sieg, Joe Graf Jr, and Alex Labbe will not make a qualifying run.
Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, Connor Mosack, Sage Karam, and Riley Herbst will move on to round two of qualifying form group two.
Sammy Smith and Kaz Grala get off the course and cause damage to their cars.
After the 10 minute round two of qualifying, AJ Allmendinger sets a new record with 2:10.574 around the four mile track to put his number 10 car on the pole. Cole Custer will start alongside on the front row.

With a stand alone event, the pit stops will non-competition stops where everyone will come down pit road at the end of the stage where the crews will have three minutes to complete pit stops. Drivers will exit pit road in the same order they entered…unless there is an issue for the crew on pit road the keeps them there past the three minute mark.
Stage one is 22 laps, stage two is 12 laps, and stage three is only eleven laps for a total of 45 laps around the four plus mile track. NASCAR has called for a competition caution on lap 10. Crews are allowed to fuel the car only at the stage breaks or the competition caution.

NASCAR has called for a competition caution in order for the crews to check tire wear after the repaving of the course.
Lap three, AJ Allmendinger has a two second lead on Justin Allgaier; Cole Custer, Sam Mayer, and Riley Herbst round out the top five. Mayer and Herbst battle for fourth.
Three laps into the race the drivers are beginning to make moves after “feeling out” the track.
Justin Allgaier is slowly closing the gap on leader AJ Allmendinger; the gap is down to under a second and a half.
After having to start at the back of the field, Daniel Hemric has moved up 15 spots in just four laps.
Lap six, Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer have caught leader AJ Allmendinger. Justin Allgaier passes Allmendinger for the lead with Cole Custer taking second. Allmendinger reports a tight condition in his car.

Twenty percent of the road course races in the Xfinity Series have been won by the top three drivers – Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, and AJ Allmendinger.
Reporting braking issues, AJ Allmendinger is nearly three seconds behind Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer who have been in a battle for the lead for the past couple of laps.
Lap eight, the top five are Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, AJ Allmendinger, Riley Herbst, and Sam Mayer.
Lap nine, Cole Custer nearly got his nose under leader Justin Allgaier, but Allgaier continues to hold Custer off.
Riley Herbst has caught up to AJ Allmendinger and is challenging for third.
Katherine Legge does not appear to be under power and is limping around the course.

Sammy Smith started the race in a backup car and has moved up to 13th place. But Brandon Jones who is also in a backup car is having some braking issues and has only moved up to 27th place.
The drivers come down pit road for fresh tires, fuel, and adjustments. The pace car is the only car on the course.
Leader Justin Allgaier was reporting a “bouncing” fuel pressure issue.

Fourth place driver Sam Mayer grew up only seven miles from Road America.
Lap 15, the top five are Justin Allgaier, AJ Allmendinger, Cole Custer, Sam Mayer, and Sage Karam.

After restarting the race, Brandon Jones has moved up to 22nd place and Sammy Smith is just outside the top 10 in eleventh. Daniel Hemric has moved up to 14th.

Katherine Legge becomes the first driver out of the race.

Parker Kligerman has been in a battle for Connor Mosack for eleventh and a chance to earn some stage points. Kligerman is currently below the cut line to make the playoffs.
Two laps remain in stage one, Justin Allgaier has a near three second lead on Cole Custer.
Chandler Smith gets hard into the wall with no brakes to bring out the caution flag. There is debris all around the car. Smith climbs out of the car before the safety crews arrive. He purposely hit one wall to avoid the harder wall.

NASCAR puts out the caution flag for Riley Herbst who is stopped across the track.
Eighth place driver Parker Kligerman is just three points below the cut line with Riley Herbst who is on pit road after the contact is three points above the cut line.
Sheldon Creed made a stop on pit road to make some damage repairs.
Brett Moffitt is out of the race with drive trane issues.
Chandler Smith is out of the infield care center and noted that he had heard something snap and come off the car before the crash. He said that he had no brakes and was trying to scrub as much speed as possible when he hit the wall. SMT data said that he was going 170mph at the time of crash. He kept saying that “it sucks for my guys”.

After a side by side battle, AJ Allmendinger goes wide and gets of the course before going again. Justin Allgaier holds on to the lead with Cole Custer in second; Kaz Grala, AJ Allmendinger, and Sage Karam round out the top five.

John Hunter Nemechek makes a run for the grass but keeps going and the track stays green.

Lap 29, Justin Allgaier has a lead of over half a second on Cole Custer; Sage Karam, Kaz Grala, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five.
Lap 30, Justin Allgaier has a half second lead on Cole Custer; Sage Karam, Kaz Grala, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five.
Lap 32, John Hunter Nemechek does a little agricultural racing but gets back on the track. More cars spun out as they got into some fluid Nemechek left on the track to bring out the caution flag. The jarring run through the grass and sand caused some damage to the car. Riley Herbst was among the drivers who spun out. Nemechek is out of the race.
John Hunter Nemechek said that he just made a mistake when he ran through the grass. Without giving any names, he said, “who needs enemies when you have teammates?”
Justin Allgaier brings the field down for a one lap shootout to end stage two and gets out in front to hold on to the lead as the drivers spread out across the track.
Daniel Hemric goes wide and gets into the grass before getting back on the track after losing a number of spots.
Justin Allgaier sweeps the stages with a win of stage two. Allgaier has won seven stages this season.

With nine laps to go Justin Allgaier has a near half second lead on Sage Karam; Sam Mayer, Custer, and AJ Allmendinger round out the top five.

Alex Labbe brings out the caution flag when he gets into the wall across the sand trap. He gets out of the car but lays in the sand. Labbe walks with the safety worker to the ambulance. Labbe hits the wall that Chandler Smith avoided hitting.

The race will go into a second overtime!
NASCAR has red flagged the race in order to get the track cleaned up.
After his hard hit into the wall, Alex Labbe has been checked and cleared at the infield care center.
Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the second green flag overtime finish. Allgaier jumps out in front for the lead with Sage Karam in second; Parker Kligerman, Sam Mayer, and Austin Hill round out the top five.
