This week on Thursday Night Thunder the SRX Series travels to e Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia for week three of the six week season.

The 12 car field is set by a random draw.

The drivers run two heats of 20 laps or 12 minutes – whichever comes first.  The field is inverted for lap two.

Josef Newgarden brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with Newgarden going side by side with Marco Andretti.  Andretti gets out in front for the lead.

The top five are Marco Andretti, Josef Newgarden, Bobby Labonte, Kyle Busch, and Brad Keselowski.

Clint Bowyer will sit on the pole for heat number two if he can get his power issues resolved.

Reports are that Clint Bowyer’s car had a blown fuse.

With eleven laps to go in heat number two, the caution flag comes out for the mid heat break.

Clint Bowyer brings the field down for the green flag restart from the inside lane with Ryan Newman alongside.  Bowyer gets out in front for the lead but Newman comes up to battle for the spot.

Ryan Newman and Clint Bowyer have pulled away from the field as they continue their battle for the lead; Ken Schrader, Helio Castroneves, and Hailie Deegan round out the top five.

After finishing second heat number one, Kyle Busch is mired back in the field in eleventh place.

Heat winner Clint Bowyer admits that he is out of shape but added that if Ryan Newman and Michael Waltrip can do it, he could certainly do it.

After getting around Hailie Deegan, Clint Bowyer passes Paul Tracy for eiighth place.

Lap 27, Tony Stewart has led every lap so far; Brad Keselowski, Marco Andretti, Kyle Busch, and Helio Castroneves rounds out the top five.

Lap 34, the top six drivers are separated by two seconds.  Clint Bowyer has moved up five spots since the start of the race.

Four crew chiefs set up all 12 of the cars, plus a couple of backup cars, identically.

Lap 40, the caution flag comes out for another race break.

Tony Stewart brings the field down for the green flag restart after the break on the inside lane and edges out in front for the lead.  In a three wide battle, Marco Andretti got shoved up the track.

Tony Stewart and Brad Keselowski battle for the lead; swapping it back and forth before Keselowski gets out in front.

The top five are Brad Keselowski, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, and Helio Castroneves.

Kyle Busch passes Tony Stewart for second after putting his bumper to the rear of Smoke’s car.

Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski make contact sending Keselowski around to bring out the caution flag.  Kyle Busch is the new leader.

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart with Tony Stewart alongside and Ryan Newman behind on lap 61.  Rowdy gets out in front for the lead with Tony Stewart in second; Ryan Newman, Helio Castroneves, and Clint Bowyer round out the top five.  Brad Keselowski restarts the race in last place.

With 37 laps to go, Kyle Busch has a lead of over half a second on Tony Stewart.

Commentators Alan Bestwick and Connor Daly get Clint Bowyer on the radio during the race.  When they first contact Bowyer, he says, “I’m busy” and proceeds to passes Helio Castroneves for third.

The caution flag comes out for a race break with 24 laps to go.

The caution flag comes out with 18 laps to go for a crash involving Bobby Labonte, Helio Castroneves, and Josef Newgarden.

Clint Bowyer has been running most of the race on the apron of the track; now other drivers are beginning to follow suit.

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart with Tony Stewart alongside with just 13 laps remaining in the race.  And again Rowdy jumps out in front of Tony Stewart for the lead.  Clint Bowyer battles with Tony Stewart for second.

The caution flag comes out for a crash involving Paul Tracy, Ken Schrader, Josef Newgarden, and Hailie Deegan.  Paul Tracy ran Josef Newgarden into the wall; Ken Schrader and Hailie Deegan were innocent victims caught up in the wreck.  Marco Andretti also has some damage to his car.

A frustrated Ken Schrader said that he has had enough of Paul Tracy and won’t run another rce with him.

Paul Tracy called it “just hard racing”.

In the last 10 laps of the race, only the green flag laps count.

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart with 10 to go with Tony Stewart on the outside.  After missing all the recent wrecks, Brad Keselowski is up to sixth place.

Busch is the 10th different driver to win an SRX race and the sixth in six races.

Saying that he had fun, Kyle Busch said that he would race more if her could.  Son Brexton brings the checkered flag to his dad.
