Last week the SRX Racing Series debuted its third season at Stafford Motor Speedway with Denny Hamlin winning the main event in a weather shortened race. 

The second week of the six week season was originally scheduled for Thunder Road in Vermont but recent catastrophic weather events has made that impossible; as a result, SRX will return to Stafford for this week’s race.

And joining Allen Bestwick in the broadcast booth this week is NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Darrell Waltrip.

The drivers will run two heats and a main race.  The starting lineup was chosen at random.  At the end of heat one, the field will be inverted.  The starting lineup for the main event will be the best average of the two heats.

Hailie Deegan brings the field down for the green flag start with “Smoke” Tony Stewart alongside.  Deegan and Stewart go side by side in a battle for the lead before Tony Stewart leads lap one by a fender.

Brad Keselowski spins out and brings out the caution flag after some contact from Marco Andretti.  Hailie Deegan is listed as the leader when the caution flag came out.

The second caution flag of the race comes out when Greg Biffle spins out and gets into the wall after contact with Daniel Suarez.  There is significant damage to Biffle’s car and will move to one of the backup cars.

Brad Keselowski noted that the SRX cars are like a hybrid of a Late Model and a Cup car.

Calling it hard line racing, Paul Tracy said that Ken Schrader paid him back for last week.

Ryan Preece was added as a 13th driver for this race as the home town driver. 

Ken Schrader’s version of the Paul Tracy/Schrader contact was that Paul Tracy wrecked himself.

The main event is 80 laps with green flag laps only counting in the last 10 laps of the race.  The overtime race rules are in effect.
