Growing up in a classical music household, I was literally a teenager before I was aware that there was much more than the classical music my father played and the church music he practiced for Sundays.

Since those early days, my musical choices have become varied, I listen to, and like quite a lot of different styles of music. My favorite depends upon what I am in doing at the time. I have music I prefer to listen to when I am working. I have tunes I listen to for fun and dancing and having fun . And then there’s the music I cover for work.

My music collection resembles a music store in the days before Hip-Hop became a thing. I still enjoy listening to classical music; along with rock, some pop and country, bluegrass, and Celtic. But if I had to narrow it down; I guess it would have to be New Age or World music.

While widely varied, two things that are not a part of my music collection are Hip-Hop and Metal (in all its formats). Nothing against anyone who performs them, I just don’t happen to be a fan. And while I like a lot of different kinds of music, there are some artists/bands I do not car to hear. Growing up with classical music, I have learned to appreciate music a little differently than the average music fan; which also skews my way of viewing the music itself.
