Legacy Motor Club and the number 43 team has seen a bad week get worse.  On Sunday during the race at World Wide Technology Raceway one of the crew members from the 43 team was injured during a pit stop and had to be taken to the hospital.  He has since been released.

On Wednesday, NASCAR has levied an L1 penalty against the number 43 team due to a modification to the greenhouse area of the car.

The greenhouse area of the car is everything above the door; which include the roof.

Mirroring a penalty issued to two of the Hendrick Motorsports cars earlier this year, the number 43 car driven by Erik Jones is charged with violating section 14.1 and 14.1.2B of the NASCAR rule book which relates to the  Overall Assembled Vehicle Rules and Engineering Change Log.  NASCAR notes that any modifications to this area are an attempt to gain an aerodynamic advantage.

As a result, Erik Jones and LMC has been docked 60 points and five playoff points each with crew chief fined $75,000 and given a two race suspension.

Other penalties from the past weekend…

In the Craftsman Truck Series, crew chief Charles Denike for the number 19 truck driven by Christian Eckes was fined $2,500 for an improperly secured lug nut found in post race inspection.

Crew chief Andrew Abbot for the number 02 truck driven by Chris Hacker was fined $5,000 for a window net violation and the team owner and Hacker have been docked 25 points each.  This is the third time this season that Truck Series teams have faced violations in reference to a window net infraction.  All window nets must meet certain safety standards and cannot be used more than two years after manufacture.

There were no penalties issued in the Xfinity Series who ran on the road course at Portland International Raceway this past weekend.
