Over the weekend at Darlington Raceway, the number 45 23XI Racing car failed inspection for the second week in a row.  When a car fails inspection twice, the penalty is that NASCAR ejects one of the crew members.  Normally that crew member is the car chief; but after NASCAR said that they “found something they didn’t like” and ejected the crew chief.

In Tuesday’s penalty report, NASCAR has fined the number 45 car for violating Section 14.11.2.1.A of the NASCAR rule book – improperly secured ballast.  As a result, driver Tyler Reddick and car owner 23XI have been docked 10 points each.

The loss of points drops Reddick down two spots in the standings from eighth to tenth – 371 to 361 points.

During the race Erik Jones started a multi car pile up when he lost a wheel on the track.  While Jones was held two laps during the race; under the new lost wheel/tire rules, the number 43 Legacy Motor Club team has two of its crew members suspended for the next two points races – jack man Nate McBride and rear tire changer Adam Riley.
