This year the Latin Grammys and its surrounding events will travel outside of the United States for the very first time to Sevilla Spain where they will be presented on November 16.

Now, the only thing that is changing is that we’re taking the celebration to another place, which will ultimately expand our global reach Even further.”

Realizing that the world of music is an ever changing medium the Latin Recording Academy has made some changes for the 24th annual Latin Grammy Awards to be held this November in Sevilla, Spain.
Like in the Grammy Awards, the Latin Grammys have added a Songwriting field we’re Best Songwriter of the Year and Best Singer-Songwriter Song will be added. Also, the Academy has added a Best Portuguese Language Urban Performance category this year.
Academy has also made some changes to the Album of the Year and Best Engineered Album categories, requiring artists and engineers to have a larger participation in the making of the album in order to be eligible for the award. Artist and engineers, who participate in less than the 33 or 51 percent required to earn an award, will receive a certificate instead of a trophy in an acknowledgment of their contributions to the album.
Understanding that songs pop up on social media sites daily, the Recording Academy is now requiring dates be added to all song category entries in order to a ensure that they are indeed new songs. The date is not in reference to, when this song was actually penned, but when the song was in itself recorded in preparation for a release which could be anywhere from a few days to even years.
