The newest album from Irish rockers U2 is a re-engineered version of previous songs.  Bono and The Edge reworked the songs into acoustic renditions called “Songs of Surrender”.

The album has reached the number one spot on the Official Albums Chart in the United Kingdom; for their eleventh number one album.  In the U.S. “Songs of Surrender” debuted in the number one spot on the Rock, Alternative, and Vinyl charts; as well as, debuting in the number five spot on the Billboard Album 200 chart.

Along with topping the album charts in 35 countries on iTunes; “Songs of Surrender” have earned the lads a number one in their Irish homeland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

The idea for “Songs of Surrender” began back during the Covid lockdown and culminated in the release of a 40 song volume of acoustic music.

Bono has also released a New York Times best selling memoir “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story” that also resulted in a tour where he talked about the book, read from the book, and  sang a few songs.
