This year marks the 50th anniversary of Songwriter Hall of Fame artist Jim Croce’s death. Croce was just 30 years old when he died in a plane crash; leaving behind a wife and two year old son A.J.
As the saying goes, the apple did not fall far from the tree as A.J. has taken up his father’s torch and continues to perform and play his father’s music.
This fall, A.J. will launch a 50th anniversary tour that will feature the music from Jim Croce’s albums “Life and Times” and the final album Croce recorded “I Got a Name”. Music from the album “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim” will also be featured.
The performance will include a multi-media presentation to accompany the music.
A.J. spoke on the upcoming tour saying, “the audience reaction has been so great. The shows we did last year were not only met with a huge response, but I learned so much about what works and what resonates, we knew we had to keep going.”
He added, “we’ll be playing songs representative from all three albums, and also some songs the audience might not know from more obscure artists that I realized connected me and my father. It was those songs that eventually led me to do this show in the first place.”
This summer BMG has planned anniversary releases of the Croco albums “Life and Times” and “I Got a Name” that will include limited colour vinyl albums and special boxed sets.
