In less than a month “Phantom of the Opera” will close its curtain for the final time; but as those final days approach, the musical is breaking records that they have not reached in their 35 year history.

Last week “Phantom” broke the $3 million mark in just eight performances to top the list in gross sales.  The Andrew Lloyd Weber musical came in second behind the production “Parade”.

All but seven of the current 29 productions running had a audience attendance of under 90 percent as 259,832 people took in a Broadway production las week.  Eleven of the 29 productions actually had an audience capacity of over 100 percent.

Last week Broadway productions took in a total of $34 million in ticket sales with the average ticket price of $131.33.
