Iceland’s Ambient Rockers Sigur Ros will be making a limited run of concert dates in Europe and North America this summer.  The band will be joined by a 41 piece orchestra on the tour.

They will also be releasing their first new album in 10 years later this year.  The band has been working on some new material over the past few years.

It’s a little hard to believe but Sigur Ros is celebrating anniversaries of earlier albums.  Last October was the 20th anniversary of () and the band has remastered the album for an anniversary release.  () is the only album where Jonsi “sings” in the language the band created called Hopelandic.  The vocalizations blend with the music freeing the listener to use their imagination and their own interpretations.  To further spark the imagination, none of the eight songs on the album have a title.

There is a limited deluxe box set of 2,500 black and 2,500 white vinyl.  The set includes the remastered edition of the album, an album with B-sides and rarities, and 10 pieces of artwork; all encased in a white linen case.  The set is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity that has been signed by the members of the band.

The London Contemporary Orchestra will be joining Sigur Ros for their European dates where they will be performing the music from the album.  The Wordless Music Orchestra will be joining the tour for the North American dates.

Shows for the European portion of the tour are on sale now with the London Meltdown Festival show going on sale March 17.  Pre-sale begins on March 22 for the North American dates with sale to the general public beginning March 24.
