For nearly 100 years children have occupied their free time and exercising their imaginations with brightly coloured plastic bricks known as GEGO’s. But today LEGO has gone far beyond being just a children’s toy.
Adults have entered the field of play; they even have their own reality competition show to see who can build the best creations.
Now NASCAR has joined the world of LEGO with their first ever LEGO Technic Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
Complete with the number 75 in honour of NASCAR’s 75th anniversary, the LEGO Camaro ZL1 kit includes everything to build a ZL1 just like those driven by NASCAR’s Chevrolet drivers including Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Ross “Melon Man” Chastain, and Daniel Suarez. The car included cockpit steering and a hood that opens to display the replica V8 engine complete with moving pistons.
Recommended for age nine and above, the ZL1 kits includes 672 pieces with the finished product measuring 3 X 11 X 5. There is also a LEGO Builder app where viewers can learn about engineering and building.
The Next Gen car kits are available at LEGO.com and at retailers around the globe. LEGO.com lists the car as retailing for $49.99
Managing director of licensing and consumer products Megan Malayter spoke on the collaboration saying, “the LEGO Group is one of the most iconic toy brands in the world, and we’re thrilled to work with them through this collaboration to engage the next generation of fans. The LEGO Technic line also helps foster interest in the world of engineering, which is a critical part of our sport and an important aspect of our fan development efforts.”
Beginning today, NASCAR will include the LEGO brand at all of their tracks; allowing kids to build their own cars to race in the KidZone.
