Just six days after the annual Grammy Award ceremonies, the BRIT Awards held their annual awards gala to honour the best in British music and international artists.

Like the Grammy’s, The BRIT Awards entertained a packed house of nominees and music fans.  It was the first time in the awards 43 year history that it was held on a Saturday night.

The gala event presented 15 awards; along with musical performances by some of the nominees.  Comedian Mo Gilligan hosted that gala event; opening the ceremony with a parody of the hit singing show “The Masked Singer”.  Harry Styles not only performed during the ceremony; but also swept the awards in which he was nominated including repeating his Album of the Year award, taking the award on both sides of the Atlantic.  His album “Harry’s House” was the biggest selling album in the United Kingdom last year.

Adding two more awards to her total – she now has 1,000 lifetime awards to match Michael Jackson with the total – was not present at the arena but accepted her awards via a video message.

Lewis Capoldi, Lizzo, Cat Burns, Stormzy, and Sam Smith and Kim Petras were all among the artists who performed.  Smith and Petras reprised their “Unholy” performance after stirring up the Grammy Award watching crowd with the perceived “satanic” song.  David Guetta closed out the night of music with some help from Becky Hill, Ella Henderson, and Sam Ryder.
