It’s less than a week before the Great American Race – Daytona 500 – at Daytona International Speedway.

NASCAR rules allow a total of 40 Cup Series cars in a race; but there are a total of 42 cars entered into the race for Sunday.  The Cup Series has 36 teams chartered and are guaranteed a spot in the race, the remaining six cars will have to battle it out for the remaining four spots.

On Wednesday night the 42 drivers will compete in qualifying for the pole and the second front row position.  The remainder of the field will be set on Thursday evening with the Bluegreen Vacation Duels.

By the end of the night two of the drivers will be eliminated from the competition.
